Functions of RTO in Madhya Pradesh:

A few general functions that are carried out by Regional Transport Offices are as given below:

Issuance of Permits: RTOs across the state is responsible for issuing permits to stage and goods carriage vehicles, taxis, etc. The RTOs are also in charge of issuing duplicate permits and canceling existing permits.

The fitness certificate for a new private vehicle is valid for 15 years, after which it has to be renewed every five years. Fitness certificates for new transport vehicles are valid for a tenure of 2 years, after which they will have to be renewed annually. To get the fitness certificate renewed, the vehicle owner can approach an RTO.

Issue of No Objection Certificates: Regional Transport Offices in the state are also responsible for issuing No Objection Certificates (NOCs) to vehicle owners if required.
