Types of Vehicle Registrations at RTO Bihar:

To register a vehicle in Bihar, the applicant must make an application using the prescribed forms to the District Transport Office in their region. The same must be done within 7 days of vehicle purchase during the working hours of the DTO/RTO. Here are the steps for registering your vehicle in Bihar.   • Temporary Registration

    There are benefits to temporary registration of vehicles because this provides a time period in which the vehicle owner can apply for permanent registration. This time period is usually of a month in which the owner needs to apply for Permanent Registration to the respective RTO.

  • Permanent Registration

    As per the Motor Vehicle Act of 1988, it is illegal for a vehicle to drive without a valid registration. To obtain a permanent registration, the owner can apply on Bihar RTO Online site or can visit a Panchayat Awam or Millet Court and go through the process of applying for an RC. You need to have valid insurance certificate with you at the time of application.

  • Duplicate Registration

    If you lose your vehicle's RC, you can get a duplicate one at the RTO. You'll need to report this at the nearest police station first. Then the owner needs to apply for duplicate RC with form no. 26, police report, valid insurance certificate etc.

  • Ownership Transfer

  • Renewal of Registration

    After 15 years, it is mandatory for you to get your license renewed. To do so, you will need the paperwork for a Form 25 along with any other relevant documents to complete the process. After that goes through any necessary inspections, you can send in a renewal request

  • Ownership Transfer to Another State

    If a second-hand sale of a vehicle is to be done to someone in another state, it is necessary for the owner to file a NOC in Bihar. After obtaining a NOC, it is possible to apply for transfer in the respective state with documents such as Form 28, original registration certificate, insurance certificate, etc. One can also complete this process online by knowing the Bihar RTO Code of the respective RTO.

  • Transfer of RC in Case of Death

    If the legal their wishes to sell the vehicle after the demise of the owner of the vehicle, he needs to transfer the ownership in his name. For this, he needs to inform the RTO office, and then he needs to apply for ownership transfer with documents such as a succession certificate, death certificate, original registration certificate, etc.

  • The application form collected at the RTO office is filled and submitted along with the relevant documents
  • The documents required for vehicle registration are Form 20-application form, Form 21-sales certificate, Form 22-Roadworthy certificate, insurance, passport-size photos of the driver, invoice of the vehicle issued by the vehicle dealer, Pan details, and address proof of the driver
  • Other documents which may be required are clearance certificate for vehicles imported, STA design and registration certificate taken temporarily
  • The documents submitted will be verified by the concerned authority and the vehicle is inspected later
  • After verification, the registration number is issued by the concerned officer with the receipt
  • The receipt can be used until he receives the original RC, which will be sent later through courier to the respective address.
